Plein Air– Covington Historic District

Mouth of the Licking
12" x 16", Oil on Canvas
5/2013

Our plein air group was down in the Covington (KY) Historic District this week... and this is a view from the far North Eastern tip. Along the river walk you can see across the mouth of the Licking River to the B&B Riverboat landing in Newport, KY.

Our plein air trip to Gorman Farm turned into a gully-washer. I got the major color blocked in and added the detail at MAPs on Monday.

Plein Air– Lytle Park

Lytle Park View
12" x 16", Oil on Canvas
5/2013

A little different view of the Taft Museum, with more of Lytle Park showing in the forground. This one better places the Baum-Longworth-Sinton-Taft House in the East end of the Central Business District, below Mt. Adams. "A National Historic Landmark built about 1820 for Martin Baum, is the oldest domestic wooden structure in situ" in Cincinnati. It "considered one of the finest examples of Federal architecture in the Palladian style in the country."

Plein Air– Saylor Park

On the Hard
9" x 12", Oil on Canvas Panel
5/2013

The SWOPA trip yesterday was to Fernbank River Park and Saylor Park, OH. I found this boat storage area next to the Mariner's Inn, just next to Fernbank Park. Lots of boats that haven't made it to the water yet.
