Reserves Park Series

Reserves Park– Lotus 7
24" x 36", Oil on Canvas
6/2013

The next installment of the Reserves Park Series is a look across the small pond that is choked with lotus plants each summer. Near the bank the lotus mix with the cat tails and other shallow water plants, with their leaves and flowers standing 2-3 feet above the semi-dry land. No matter how deep the water, some of the leaves and all of the flowers raise themselves above the water's surface.

Plein Air– Glenwood Gardens

Glenwood Gardens 3

Finally got out on a Thursday to paint "en plein air" with SWOPA group and THERE WAS NO RAIN! Trip was to Glenwood Gardens Park in Woodlawn, right next to Glendale. The park straddles the West fork of the Mill Creek as it drains out of Winton Woods lake. The previous owners bought the property because it reminded them so much of the Cottswolds in England, which they loved so much. They even recontoured the valley floor to make it roll more. This painting is of one of the very large and gnarley sycamore trees that populate the valley.
