I completed this painting this afternoon, following a great start at MAPs this morning. It was so close to being done that I put a couple more hours in. Here it is with everything but the signature.
Based on a photo I took last Fall, it's of the "Spring House" at the old French-Bauer farm on St. Rt. 63 west of Lebanon, OH. Other photos taken that same day became the Winter scenes posted last November 16. Both of those painting were shown at the "Warren County Holiday Tidings" show at Gallery 42.

MAP Monday
This is a 8x10 study for a possible future painting started Monday at MAPs. Underpass in Hughes Station, something close to home. You can just see the entrance to our subdivision through the opening, near the second car.

MAP Monday
This 8x10 of a pipe and pitcher was a "one stroke" painting executed during our Mason Area Painter's group this morning. We did four 10 min. color sketches of a particular still life object (I did the pipe) and then the one stroke painting. Mix a color put it down and then go to the next stroke. No adjusting, no fiddling, just get it down on the canvas. I worked about an hour and a half to this state.

Beckett Ponds 25
"Aren't you getting tired of painting those silly little 8x10's yet? You really should get started on something bigger... like a 16x20 or a 24x36." OK. OK. I'll go ahead and work on that larger canvas with the under-painting already done. Even if I've been putting it off for two weeks. But these little ones aren't really that bad are they? Hmmm...
Gate at Victoria's
Somehow I missed taking a photo of this painting last September. This was the third painting to fill out the triptych of 9x12's. The scene is from a local area gift shop in West Chester. Three views, outside the garden wall, inside and the gate. You can see the other paintings in my posts from August 28, 2010 and September 9, 2010. Hopefully this catches me up from last year!

Beckett Ponds 24
I painted this one on a deadline. I'm participating in the Middletown First Friday Art Hop tomorrow night and needed another 8 x 10 from the Beckett Ponds Series to fill out the display. Me and my work will be on the second floor, above the BeauVerre Riordan Stained Glass Studios on Central Avenue in downtown Middletown, Ohio. Hours are from 5:00-8:00P.
If we have some traffic and it looks like a promising venue, we've been invited to setup into the near future for each First Friday. Next month the new Middletown Pendelton Art Center will be opening to add a draw to the location. Come check things out!

Looking Back
Literally! I painted this view of the back of our subdivision in March, 2010. The photographs it was based on were taken just after the last snow storm, of last year. I'm taking this painting to the Middletown First Friday Art Hop this week and realized I'd never posted it on my blog. Though the photo doesn't capture the painting with total accuracy, I think you can sense some of the mood of the snow covered field at dusk.
