Melan Bridge
Plein Air, 12" x 16", Oil on Canvas
04/2013
This Melan reinforced concrete arch bridge was built in Eden Park, Cincinnati, in 1894. Joseph Melan developed a system of embedding rigid iron trusses into the concrete structure, instead of reinforcing rods. These bridges are noted for their shallow and thin arches. This one can be found spanning Eden Park Drive, with carved limestone eagles flanking both entrance and exit ends.

Plein Air– Spring Grove
Gothic Chapel
Plein Air, 12" x 16", Oil on Canvas
04/2012
This Gothic chapel is the Dexter family mausoleum in Spring Grove Cemetery. A wealthy "whiskey baron" of English decent, Edmund Dexter had this chapel built in 1869 overlooking the main pond. The upstairs portion is a perfectly proportioned Gothic chapel for the family's use for services. Below the front stair is a arched entrance to the crypt below where family members are interred.

This next installment in the Fence Row Series will be on view at the Pendragon Model Home in the Carmelle subdivision, Mason, OH. Several of the Fence Row paintings are there and you can see the family resemblance when they're with their siblings. Also the progress down the timeline of paintings in a series.
Fence Row 3 is still on view in the 46th Greater Hamilton Art Exhibition, Fitton Center for Creative Arts, Hamilton, OH through May 31. I have two paintings in that show.
