Darker Side of Don

Evening Ruins
12" x 16", Oil on Canvas
03/2012

I don't think this photo comes close to reflecting the color and contrast in this painting. Sometimes I see things that I just have to get into paint, and maybe the original comes close.

This was painted from a photo taken as I walked out of the Cincinnati Art Club earlier this winter. It was wet or flurrying or both, with lowering clouds. Mysterious or haunting, but beautiful just the same.

I missed posting this for February. Completed in two sessions of Mason Area Painters.

Fence Row Addition

Fence Row 6
11" x 14". Oil on Canvas
03/2013

Companion piece to Fence Row 5 (posted 1/11/2013). Not only do I like to work in series, but in pairs or multiples that can hang together as companion pieces. This painting will be framed to match #5 and displayed together in my up coming outdoor shows.

Beckett Ponds– Small Stuff

Beckett Ponds 31
5" x 7", Oil on Canvas Panel
02/2013

These two paintings are a "small" addition to the Beckett Ponds Series. They were painted to add to the lower price point end of the series, in preparation for the feature display of my work at Gallery 42. Opening on Second Saturday (March 9), the display of a little over 1/3 of the Beckett Ponds Series will continue through April 13

Buick Encore Introduction

Buick Encore Intro
8" x 10", Oil on Canvas Panel
02/2013

In February I was asked to participate in a "plein air" demonstration at the Borcherding Buick/GMC showrooms in the Kings Auto Mall. I decided to paint a scene from the showroom during the 3 hour Introduction Party for the new Buick Encore model. The owner of the dealership, Kim Borcherding, liked this work enough to purchase it at the end of the evening.
